Year of the Golden OX
This year the Lunar New Year falls on 26 January. It will be a 15 days celebration; starting with the New Year eve's dinner where all members of the family comes back to gather together at this time. It is a sign of family unity. The 15th day also known as the 'Lantern Festival' which is celebrated with lantern displays at night. There will be also fireworks, firecrackers and lion dance during this time.
This year 2009 is the year of the Golden OX. The Ox symbolizes prosperity through fortitude and hard work. Those born under the influence of the Ox are fortunate to be stable and persevering. The typical Ox is a tolerant person with strong character. Not many people could equal the resolution and fearlessness that the Ox exhibits when deciding to accomplish a task. Ox people work hard without complaints at work or at home. They know that they will succeed through hard work and sustained efforts, and do not believe in get-rich-quick schemes.
Happy Chinese New Year.
